what a super, and right on the money, bit of text you've made here. I find the topic very interesting, sure, but it was just beautifully executed as well. Solid prose - unassuming, which is difficult to pull off when trying to teach people how to do good art.

Most importantly, though, I think there are many who will find this text very helpful. Even if they currently aren't feeling blocked at all. These sort of ideas are of use to anyone who does creative work. Even if they aren't totally unfamiliar concepts, the re-inforcement is a good thing. One can't approach art making in abstract from too many different directions, I don't think, because, like you said, one isn't looking for the right answer. Quite the contrary - one is looking to be prompted to stop looking for the right answer.

hello Mr De Boer, I am currently writing a thesis on the subject of creative block and have found some of your work incredibly helpful in verbalising the 'problem'. I was wondering if I could get the details of when you wrote this essay so that I can reference it? thanks in advance and thanks for writing such a great set of essays.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I just saw this excellent post by way of LifeHacker.

However, you don't need permission to suck. It's your God-given, inalienable RIGHT to suck. You can even sing about it (and suck while doing so). I've written an anthem to mediocrity entitled "Defend Your Right to Suck," http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E_CXjkJhI4 ,and I hope you'll sing along.-Bill Dyszel
